We are looking for quality candidates that have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree for teaching positions and previous work experience in a related field. Senior Director of Facilities Planning

The Senior Director of Facilities Planning is a new position that we will be adding to our current Facilities team.  This position will focus on planning and space utilization to accommodate future growth and present interior and exterior image consistent with a premiere Christian school. The Senior Director of Facilities Planning will also oversee capital planning to provide regular and planned maintenance for each of the buildings, athletic fields, and parking/driveways.

Qualified candidate will maximize classroom/cafeteria/library/office space to accommodate future growth, provide on-site leadership for maintenance and renovation of campus facilities, oversee the beautification of campus facilities to present an image consistent with mission of doing “excellence in all things” for Christ.  This position will also provide capital planning 5 to 10 years out to track and plan for normal quality upkeep and maintenance of the complex and campus grounds. 

Position qualifications include the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators at all levels of the organization as well as third party vendors; high ethical standards reflected in personal integrity, business relationships, and decision-making; experience in building maintenance and repair; experience with controls of equipment, inspections, preventative maintenance, plumbing, electrical, and safety measures; knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations; strong knowledge of working within a budget; and experience with project management processes and tools.

Administrative Assistant to the Head of School

The Administrative Assistant will provide support services for the Head of School.  This position is crucial to the successful administration of the office and therefore will have broad administrative responsibilities related to all functional areas within the school environment.  This position must exhibit a high level of integrity, responsibility, and confidentiality since the administrative assistant will be highly involved in daily matters. Duties include acting as a gatekeeper and scheduling coordinator for all activities related to the administrative functions of the Head of School office, overseeing various communication responsibilities, maintaining all official records related to the Head of School office, providing administrative support for the Advancement team as needed, coordinating gift deposits/receipting/reporting, receiving phone calls and assisting with Raiser’s Edge database tasks as needed.

Qualifications include flexibility, unity, teamwork, and sensitivity to the needs of others.  Must complete tasks and adapt to periods of high-volume workload.  Experience in MS Word and Excel are required.  Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge strongly preferred.    A complete position description can be obtained by contacting Human Resources.

High School Teacher, English

This full-time position is responsible to teach English and one other subject (possibly Current Social Problems) in the high school beginning in the 2021/22 academic year.   Qualified candidate will partner with the Department Chair to develop and implement strategies to inspire and assist student learning across the curriculum. 

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in English or a related field, strong communication skills, including the ability to project verbally in a classroom setting.  Teaching experience is preferred.  Applicant must possess a current educator’s license with the State of Ohio or obtain one prior to the beginning of the school year.

K-12 Intervention Specialist

Seeking an Ohio Department of Education licensed Intervention Specialist (K-12) or Special Education Teacher to provide intervention, instruction, and services for upper elementary and middle school students who are not mastering grade-level skills from first instruction through the Response to Intervention model, as well as work with students who have been identified with special needs under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Services may be carried out through one-on-one intervention, small group and/or inclusion classes. Candidates must be able to maintain data and progress records based on RTI interventions and IEP goals and objectives, as well as complete weekly service records that are required for those students enrolled in the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship (JPSN) program under the JPSN guidelines/law. Candidates must be able to modify the general education curriculum to meet the needs of students receiving services through an IEP in all core subjects and Bible. Candidates must also be able to provide academic services for those students on 504 Accommodation Plans. Special Education faculty meet the needs of students with spiritual maturity and sensitivity to each individual with the ultimate goal of enabling the student to reach his/her fullest academic, physical, emotional, psychological, and behavioral potential. Position includes a robust benefit package including tuition discount for dependent children.

Special Education Aide

Dayton Christian has a need beginning in August, 2021 for an individual to serve as a Special Education Aide.  This position has been established for the purpose of working with an individual and/or small groups of students under the supervision of a certificated teacher in the instruction of special needs students in the general education classroom. The Educational Aide will assist the student(s) by modeling the necessary skills to perform assignments; follow educational and specific behavioral plans; and model appropriate behaviors and interactions with students and staff. The Educational Aide will assist the student(s) by adapting classroom materials and activities based on a student’s particular needs.

This is a full-time, ten-month, hourly position.  The schedule will align with the academic calendar. 

Qualifications for the position include obtaining/maintaining a Valid Ohio Educational Aide Certification, skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job including basic mathematical skills, grammar and punctuation, and reading fluency / comprehension.  A complete position description can be obtained from Human Resources

Pre-Kindergarten Teacher (Multiple positions available)

Our growing preschool is looking for a full-time teacher who is highly energetic and enthusiastic who will build into the lives of students. The anticipated start date is August, 2021. The teacher will partner with parents in helping their children to develop spiritually, socially, emotionally, and educationally. All candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood education or a related field and have 2+ years’ experience working with children in a classroom setting.

Responsibilities include:

  • The ability to build and maintain rapport with children and their parents.
  • Creating lesson plans that are fun, educational, and individualized as needed.
  • Providing a cooperative learning environment that is balanced with love and discipline.
  • Collaboration and planning with the Pre-School Director and other teachers in the program.

Second Grade Teacher

Dayton Christian will be adding a new second grade class next year due to our growing enrollment.  As a result, we have an opening for a new second grade teacher for the 2021/22 school year.  This individual will foster a safe and curious learning environment for all students. Duties include designing a lesson plan on a weekly basis, teaching alphabetic and numeric state standards, encouraging students to achieve excellence in writing, and organizing learning materials and resources.  Candidate will also need to consistently communicate with parents and guardians regarding their child’s holistic progress throughout the school year.   Candidate must possess the strong ability to integrate a Christian faith into daily teaching.

Qualifications for the position include a bachelor’s degree, preferably in early childhood education.  Applicant must possess a current educator’s license with the State of Ohio or obtain one prior to the beginning of the school year. Strong communication and organizational skills are required.  Excellent knowledge of child development and latest education theories and practices are necessary.

Third Grade Teacher 

The third grade teacher will foster a safe and curious learning environment for all students. Duties include designing a lesson plan on a weekly basis, teaching alphabetic and numeric state standards, encouraging students to achieve excellence in writing, and organizing learning materials and resources. Fifth Grade Teacher

Dayton Christian will have an opening for a fifth grade elementary teacher for the 2021/22 school year. This individual will foster a safe and curious learning environment for all students. Preschool Summer Camp Counselors

We’re looking for several individuals who can carry on the strong tradition of our summer camp program.  We are in search of highly motivated, energetic people to lead and assist children ages 3-10-years old.  Individuals will work to instill, inspire, and equip children with godly characteristics.  Our 10-week camp will begin June 1st and run through August 6th. Lead counselors will be responsible for creating daily activities according to the weekly themes. Assistant counselors will be responsible for helping prep for crafts, supervision of outdoor games and supporting the classroom teachers. Candidates must be 18 years of age and be able to commit to 35-40 hours a week. This is a seasonal, hourly position.

Custodian / Temporary Summer Positions

We are looking for two temporary summer custodians to assist with cleaning and providing facilities support during the renovation of our preschool area.  The tasks include cleaning common areas, mopping floors, wiping down windows, dusting fixtures, and other similar cleaning duties throughout the day.  Some lifting of objects up to 25 pounds will be required in the duties associated with renovation and moving classroom furnishings. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED certificate, knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures, and knowledge of cleaning equipment and cleaning solutions. 

This is a full-time, 40 hour per week temporary position that reports to the Coordinator for Custodial and Facilities Services.   Dates for the position are June 1 – July 31, 2021.  Some schedule flexibility may be possible.

Events Custodian

We are currently seeking a reliable and dedicated Custodian to perform day-to-day duties to ensure the facilities are presentable inside and outside.  The tasks will primarily be performed during school events, on evenings and on Saturdays and will include floors, high touch-point areas, dusting, event set up and tear down, emptying trash, and other duties as needed.  Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills are a must.  Experience in custodial services or a related field is preferred. This is a full-time, ten-month position (work schedule is during the school year and one to two additional weeks after the end of the school year) with some flexibility in scheduling available.  This position is eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 403b retirement plan, and a student tuition discount.

Front Desk Reception – Summer

We have an immediate need for an individual  to serve as the Front Desk Receptionist during the break from June 2 – August 6, Monday-Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm.

Duties will include answering / directing all incoming calls, greeting /directing visitors, receiving and distributing mail, and various project work that can be done to assist other areas of the school.

AP Government Teacher

This part-time position is responsible to teach one class of advanced Government in the high school beginning in the 2021/22 academic year.   Qualified candidate will partner with the Department Chair to develop and implement strategies to inspire and assist student learning across the curriculum.  Candidate will also oversee the preparation and testing readiness of all upper level Government students.   

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (required) in History/Government or a related field, master’s or Ph. Special Education Aide

Extended Learning Teacher 

Dayton Christian School seeks a qualified candidate to serve in our growing Extended Learning after-school program. This is a part-time, 20-hour per week position. Schedule is Monday – Friday, 2:00 – 6:00 pm. Candidate is responsible for the safety and well-being of all students that stay on school campus after pick-up. Essential Functions of the position include keeping the students safe, offering learning activities for children to participate in while they are waiting to be picked up, and maintaining an organized classroom environment. Qualifications include a love for children, strong communication skills, and a desire to serve others. A high school diploma is required.

Pre-Kindergarten Aide

Our growing preschool is looking for a Christ follower to share in the care of preschool age children. This position will serve as an aide. Job duties include assisting teacher in daily classroom activities such as leading center activities and working one-on-one wit students. Qualified candidate must enjoy working with children and staff in creating activities to support a joyful and safe environment.

Substitute Teacher 

We are looking for dedicated Christians to serve as substitute teachers in grades pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. We provide a Biblically-based curriculum and environment to instill the love of Christ and God’s Word. Searching for candidates with flexibility in substituting for various grade levels and subjects. Must have a bachelor’s degree and be willing to obtain a non-tax certificate.
