Music Department Information

AmyHenkel-6299Spring Concert: The High School Spring Band, Choir and Strings Concert is Friday May 20th at 7:00 PM in the Dayton Christian Cafeteria. The concert will feature the premier of two Band arrangements by Mr. Mark Britton. Please come and support your DC musicians and artists.

Chicago Trip: May 13-15 the DCS Band, Choir and Strings traveled to Chicago to attend clinics at VanderCook College of Music. While in Chicago we also visited the Hancock Observatory (a lovely view of Chicago fog :) ), Navy Pier, the Magnificent Mile, Millenium Park, Shedd Aquarium and Oceanarium and we attended a Chicago Symphony Orchestra Concert featuring world-renown cellist Yo-Yo Ma. On Sunday we played for the morning service at Grace Evangelical Church in Elgin, a suburb of Chicago.

Fine Arts Awards Night: Congratulations to all the recipients of Fine Arts Awards this year. Between Choir and Band, students earned 20 letters, 35 bars and 9 four-year medals. Click here to see the recipients of special awards this year.

Congratulations to the participants at the ACSI Music Festival at Cedarville University on Saturday April 9th. The High School Band, Choir and 7-12 Strings Ensemble all received Superior ratings. In addition to the large group performances, we had 38 solos and ensembles from DC at this event!

AmyHenkel-6514Congratulations to the High School Concert Choir and Band! The Concert Choir performed at the Ohio Music Educators Association District 12 large group adjudicated event last Friday night at Springfield High School and recieved a Superior rating. The High School Band performed on Saturday morning at Centerville High School and received a rating of Excellent. Wonderful job!!
