Results from the 2019 ACSI Fine Arts Festival: Superior!
The annual ACSI Fine Arts Festival was held Saturday, April 6 at Cedarville University for students in grades 3-12, and our Dayton Christian students represented our school very well!
From the elementary school, 29 student works were selected for participation in the festival. Twenty-one of these works were rated Superior and nominated for Best in Show. Students from Dayton Christian School won four out of six Best in Show categories, including Henry Comer (fourth grade), Aslan Porter (fifth grade), Sam Ferriman (fifth grade) and Avery Shick (seventh grade).
Noli Garrett, Chloe Bell, Andrés Colon, Michael James, Aliisa James, and Destiny Rome represented Dayton Christian at the high school art show. Each of them received a rating of Excellent. Ellie McDaniel received a rating of “Superior” and was considered for the Best in Show award.
All of DC’s bands and choirs performing in the festival received a score of “Excellent.” These included the Dayton Christian Junior High Band and Junior High Choir, the DC Concert Band and Concert Choir, Resounding Joy, as well as a flute quartet and woodwind trio.
Individual instrumentalists also took part. Karena Collier earned a Superior rating for her flute solo. Sierra May (flute) and Carly Riling (snare drum) earned Excellent ratings.
