Seventh Grade Cellist Plays for DPO Junior Strings

Seventh Grade Cellist Plays for DPO Junior Strings

At this morning’s devotions, our staff and faculty were blessed to hear 7th grader Nathan Reynolds perform a cello solo, “Gavotte” by JB Lully. Afterwards, Dr. Gredy prayed for him as Reynolds heads into his first season as a member of the Dayton Philharmonic Junior Strings.

Reynolds, who also plays trombone for the high school band as well the guitar, will take his place as first chair at the Junior Strings on Sunday for their first performance of the year. You are welcome to attend at Kettering Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3939 Stonebridge Road, at 7:00 PM. The concert is free and open to the public.

Reynolds started taking private lessons over three years ago and was a member of the Miami Valley Junior Strings before auditioning for the Dayton Philharmonic.

“It is a fun instrument to play,” said Reynolds. “My sister Sophie (DC ’17) also played the cello, and she has helped me a lot.” Sophie was a member of the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Symphony for two years.

Congratulations, Nathan! We wish you a fabulous season with the Dayton Philharmonic Junior Strings.
