Warriors Capture the Metro Buckeye Conference at Fifth Third Field

In a game played under the lights of Fifth Third Field, the men’s varsity baseball team beat Troy Christian in a 3-0 shutout to capture the Metro Buckeye Conference championship.

IMG_7530Hunter Preston, David Moyer, and Owen Gibboney each drove in one run as Dayton Christian took the early lead in the second inning and held it throughout the rest of the game.  Andrew Dreier earned the win for DC, going six and a third innings, giving up zero runs and four hits, and striking out 11. Owen Gibboney earned the save. The Warriors didn’t commit a single error in the field.

Off the field, fans enjoyed the company of our Warrior mascot, played games for prizes, and cheered on the team.

“Not many high school students get the opportunity to play on a professional team’s field,” said Kristin Blatz, administrative assistant in the athletic department. “We wanted the team and the fans to be able to enjoy this special night – and clinching the MBC championship just made it all the better.”
