Twelve Seniors Sign to Play at Collegiate Level

Twelve Dayton Christian High school seniors have signed athletic scholarships to play at the collegiate level. On Thursday, April 13, these men and women were honored at the first annual DCS College Signing Day in a ceremony and reception held after school.

IMG_7221Mark Cox signed to play football at Cincinnati Christian University. Cox was a member of the 2016 Miami Valley Grey Conference championship team. He is a two-time All-Conference and All-District offensive lineman and will play in the 2017 All-Star game on June 9. In addition, Cox was a nominee for the 2017 Anthony Muñoz Offensive Lineman of the Year.

 

 

IMG_7250Nate Cruz will play soccer for Huntington University.  Cruz is a member of the national league club team, the state champion Ohio Galaxies Futbol Club. Before moving to Florida before his sophomore year, Cruz played for the district runner-up varsity team at Dayton Christian School.

 

 

 

IMG_7257Jacob Erlandson will join Cruz on the Huntington University soccer team. Erlandson’s honors are numerous. He was named an All-American this year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and, in his senior year, tied the school record for the most goals scored in a single season (48). For the past two years, he was named first team All-Conference, All-Area, All-Region, and All-State. For the past two years, he has been named the Metro Buckeye Conference Player of the Year and the Miami Valley Player of the Year.

 

 

IMG_7264Drew Harbour will play soccer at Wilmington College. Harbour was named to the Metro Buckeye Conference second team All-Conference and third team All-Area this year. He is a four-year starter for the Dayton Christian School team, which has been Metro Buckeye Conference champions and district finalists three years in a row.

 

 

 

IMG_7208Michael Hennen will play basketball at Ohio Christian University. Hennen was a member of the first Warrior basketball team to win a Metro Buckeye Championship since 1999. He was also named a member of the district All-Star team.

 

 

 

IMG_7215Ricarie Howard, a two-year captain of the Warrior football team, signed to play for the University of Findlay. Howard set two school records during his time at DCHS: he is the all-time leader in sacks and holds the record for the most sacks in a single season. He was named the Miami Valley Gray Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the AP Division VI All-State team.

 

 

IMG_7280Morgan Orme will play soccer for Taylor University next year. Morgan has earned first team All-Conference honors all four years, first team All-Area for three years, as well as All-District and second team All-State honors. For the past three years, Orme has helped her team capture the Metro Buckeye Conference championship.

 

 

 

IMG_7423Kaley Pook will dive with the University of Cincinnati Bearcats. Pook has placed at the Ohio High School Athletic Association state meet for the past three years, placing ninth as a sophomore, thirteenth as a junior, and eleventh as a senior. She was the Southwest district champion this year. Throughout her diving career, Pook has also contributed as a swimmer to the Warrior swim team.

 

 

IMG_7270Marin Reis will play basketball for Edison State Community College.  Reis earned second team All-Conference honors during her freshman, junior, and senior years. She has been named to the All-Area team and All-Division team. She played in the Division III All-Star game and was named to the Dabelt Report, a list of the top girls basketball players in the area.

 

 

IMG_7292Julia Schindler has signed to play soccer for Olivet Nazarene University. She earned first team All-Conference and second team All-Area honors this year and second team All-Conference honors in 2015. Schindler helped her team capture the Metro Buckeye Conference championship the past three years and district runner-up in 2014.

 

 

IMG_7240Eli Socha will play soccer for Muskingham University. Eli was named to the second team All-Conference this year and was a member of the Metro Buckeye Conference Championship and district finalist team 2014-2016. The Warrior soccer team, with the help of Socha, his brother John (Socha), Harbour, and Erlandson have not lost a conference game in the past three years.

 

 

IMG_7229John Socha will play soccer for Muskingham University. He has been a four-year starter for the Warrior soccer team, and was named to the first team All-Conference in 2015 and 2016 and first team All-Area in 2016. He is the number two DCHS record holder for most won balls in a season. He also played in the Miami Valley Division III All-District All-Star Game. Socha was a key member of the Metro Buckeye Conference championship team and district finalist team 2014-2016.
