Champions of the Metro Buckeye Conference Swim Meet
When the water settled and the scores were tabulated, the Warriors produced three event champions on their way to a fourth place finish for the men’s team and a second place finish for the girls’. Their combined scores put the Warriors in third place overall, only missing second place by one point.
The Metro Buckeye Conference is one of the most talented swimming conferences in Southwest Ohio. All five participating teams last year had representation at the state meet, and this year should net the same results. The talent in the conference featured state participants, state champions, future NCAA Division I swimmers (Big Ten and ACC), and one swimmer that competed in the United States Olympic Trials. Against this pedigree of swimmers, one would think our Warriors would buckle under the pressure – not these Warriors!
Congratulations to the Girls 200 Medley Relay Team of Hannah Withers, Kaley Pook, Esther Collins, and Sophie Reynolds; the Girls 200 Free Relay of Reilly Fair, Alyssa Colon, Esther Collins, and Brooke Darkow; and to Brooke Darkow in the 200 Freestyle who are all MBC Conference Champions in these events! In addition, twenty personal best times were set by the team at the conference meet.
Looking Ahead to Sectionals
Congratulations to Kaley Pook! She competed in her sectional dive meet on Monday at Miami University and finished second overall, first in her Sectional and advances on to Districts.
The swim team now enters our tournament season: Sectionals, Districts, and State. The men’s sectional is on Friday where they will be swimming at the Washington Township Recreation Center. The girls conclude Sectional action on Saturday morning at Mason High School. Good luck, Warriors of the Water, in your bid to advance to Districts!
The team would like you to pray that we will stay healthy (or get healthy) and that we will continue to perform at our best for God’s glory.
