Seventh Grader Excels in Essay Contest

Seventh grader Izzy Thompson earned an Award of Distinction in the Dottie Yeck Good Life Award Essay Contest sponsored by the Washington-Centerville Public Library in a ceremony last week. Thompson was awarded $100 and received a plaque to commemorate her accomplishment.

The annual contest, which is open to students in seventh through ninth grade, required that students write an essay of up to 500 words that described how they were laying a good foundation in their lives for the future.

Thompson decided to enter the contest when she saw a flyer hanging in Mrs. Harris’s seventh grade.

“I really like to write,” said Thompson. “It’s fun.”

Congratulations, Izzy! Keep using your gifts for God’s glory!
