Warriors Make a Big Splash at Weekend Meets

The “Warriors of the Water” competed in two meets this weekend with spectacular results.
On Friday evening, senior diver and University of Cincinnati commit Kaley Pook won her first high school dive meet of the season at Wright State University.
Meanwhile, at the Carroll Sprint Meet, our Warriors competed against teams two and three times the size of DC, and when the water settled, the boys team finished 7th out of 9 teams while the girls finished a stunning 3rd out of 9 teams!
Highlights of the meet:
• Brooke Darkow won two first place finishes (50 Freestyle & 50 Butterfly)
• The Girls 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays both finished in 3rd Place
• Andrew Simmons won a 3rd place finish in the 50 Butterfly
The next day, the team gathered at WSU for the Waynesville Swimvitational where the boys finished 5th out of 15 teams and the girls finished 2nd out of 15 teams.
Highlights of the meet:
• Brooke Darkow won the 50 Freestyle with a meet record, breaking the record that was held by Dayton Christian 2010 Graduate, Morgan Nuess.
• Casey Darkow won the 50 Butterfly.
• The Lady Warriors swept all three relays of the meet, including the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Freestyle Relay (Alyssa Colon, Casey Darkow, Brooke Darkow, and Reilly Fair) as well as the 200 Butterfly Relay (Brooke Darkow, Esther Collins, Reilly Fair, and Casey Darkow).
• Andrew Simmons finished 2nd in the 100 Backstroke
• The Boys 200 Free Relay featuring Ben Geiss, Brandon Dellinger, Andrew Haines, and Andrew Simmons finished in 3rd Place.
The Water Warriors will be back in action next weekend with two meets. Friday evening, they will be competing against the big boys at the Fairmont Invitational at the Kettering Rec Center. Saturday morning will find the team at the biggest meet of the year, The Trotwood/Greenon Invitational at Trotwood High School.
