Yearbook Staff Honored By Jostens

Jostens, the leading producer of yearbooks and student-created content, announced this week that Dayton Christian School’s yearbook program has been named a 2016 Jostens’ National Yearbook Program of Excellence for the second time in five years.

The school was one of only 167 schools to receive the award nationwide and one of six in the state of Ohio.

The award winning yearbook program was led last year by Kayla Landis (’16), editor, and Lexi Sauer (’17), business manager, under the direction of Laura Filaseta, the DCHS adviser.

I am very proud of my yearbook staff for their commitment to excellence in putting together the 2015-16 Horizon Yearbook. Each student worked diligently to meet the deadlines and requirements to achieve this award,” said Filaseta.

Jostens’ National Yearbook Program of Excellence Awards are presented twice a year, in spring and in fall, for yearbooks delivered during the school year. The Award was presented to the DCHS yearbook program for achieving the defined criteria in each of three following categories: creating an inclusive yearbook, generating school engagement, and successfully managing the yearbook creation process.

Donny Boyd, Jostens’ representative for southwest Ohio, presented the award to the current staff on Tuesday.

“I work with seventy schools,” said Boyd, “and Dayton Christian is the only school I represent that won the award this year.”
