Trip Overview DR2004_105

Sunshine, palm trees, 80 degree weather...ministry, spiritual growth, Christian fellowship...laughter, children, friendships...just a few words to describe what waits for students in the beautiful country of the Dominican Republic. Through the coordination of the ministry of Partners in Christ, our Dayton Christian team has the distinct privilege to join forces with a Dominican school, Logos Christian School, located in Santo Domingo. Though from different countries and different backgrounds, we come together with their senior class and minister to a group of precious orphan children - and, as a result, our lives are changed!

Work Projects

Each year our work projects are different, depending on the needs of the orphanage. In years past, we have done a variety of projects such as painting, roofing, cement work, landscaping, digging, and cleaning.

Ministry Opportunities

Our team engages in "lifestyle evangelism" while working with the students of Logos Christian School. Another ministry opportunity is at the orphanage where the team shares the Gospel in many ways - through puppets, skits, and crafts...as well as sharing God's love by way of a hug.

Age

This trip is for senior high students.

Fun

Team activities with the Logos students include volleyball, pizza parties, evening get-togethers, and group games. Each student's host family plans special activites. Often these include going to the Mall, to a Dominican baseball game, to the beach, or out to dinner. The last day in the DR the team goes to the market and shops. Time on the beach is a must before returning to cold, snowy Ohio.

  • Thursday: Travel, Meet Logos students, Meet host family
  • Friday: AM - At Logos; Afternoon - Tour Santo Domingo: PM - Fellowship with Logos
  • Saturday: Spend time getting to know Logos students and host families
  • Sunday: AM - Attend church; PM - Leave for Young Life Ranch, Jarabacoa
  • Mon-Fri: AM & Afternoon - Minister with Logos students at an orphanage; PM - Team devotions & Fellowship
  • Saturday: Spend time with Logos students and host families
  • Sunday: AM - Church; Afternoon - Time with host family; PM - Church
  • Monday: Fun in Santo Domingo
  • Tuesday: Travel to U.S.

Cost

The cost of the trip was $1575 (includes food, lodging and transportation).
