Junior National Honor Society
National Honor Society NHS are for those students who have earned a GPA of 3.6 or higher. In addition to the GPA, students are evaluated by the faculty in the areas of leadership, character and service. Worthy students are invited to join the society on the fall of the year. Only Junior and Senior students are eligible for this honor.
The National Honor Society Pledge is as follows:
I pledge to maintain my high academic scholastic standing, to hold as fundamental and worthy an untarnished character, to endeavor intelligently and courageously to be a leader, and to give of myself freely in service to others. In so doing, I shall prove myself worthy of a place in the National Honor Society.
Student Senate
Each class elects four members to represent them on Student Senate. The Senators participate in regular meetings to plan such events as Homecoming and the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. The Senators elect a President, Vice-President, Chaplain, Secretary, and Treasurer from within the group to give orgainization and direction. A teacher, Mr. Norvell, serves as the advisor.
This service-oriented student group provides both school spirit and spiritual leadership for the student body of DCHS. In addition to Homecoming and Thanksgiving, Student Senate has planned a Blood Drive and will be in charge of a student chapel.
