National Honor Society

National Honor Society NHS are for those students who have earned a GPA of 3.6 or higher. In addition to the GPA, students are evaluated by the faculty in the areas of leadership, character and service. Worthy students are invited to join the society on the fall of the year. Only Junior and Senior students are eligible for this honor.

The National Honor Society Pledge is as follows:

I pledge to maintain my high academic scholastic standing, to hold as fundamental and worthy an untarnished character, to endeavor intelligently and courageously to be a leader, and to give of myself freely in service to others. In so doing, I shall prove myself worthy of a place in the National Honor Society.

Student Government

Each class elects four Student Senate members and five Class Officers. Both groups participate in regular meetings and plan events like the annual Homecoming and Junior Senior Banquets, Thanksgiving Food Drive, and Spirit Week.

Ministry Trips

This course is designed to allow the student to actually be involved in a trip to a mission field. It is a course designed to change a person's life. It provides a first-hand understanding of service, poverty, faith, trust, and fellowship. Prayer will become the student's closest companion. It can also give direction into full-time ministry as a life goal. Past Missions Trips have gone to Africa, Dominican Republic, France, Jamaica, Mexico & Peru.

Resounding Joy

RJ is a select musical ensemble focusing on advanced classroom musical training and ministry field work experience. Students perform in various venues around the Dayton area including local churches as well as cooperating with ministries both locally and out-of-state.

Junior Enterprise

This course offers practical business experience through a student-run enterprise. Students elect officers, form a company, sell stock, develop, finance, and market products, and are paid wages for their endeavors. Areas of study include product design, mass production, advertising, sales, public relations, bookkeeping, issuance of stock, and the responsibilities of labor and of management.

Peer Mentoring

This organization matches underclassmen with upperclassman while providing peer guidance on a variety of topics. Students meet outside of class and form relationships to encourage growth and development on a social, spiritual and academic level.

Worship Team

In this course students learns to use their spiritual gifts and abilities to lead in worship. Involvement includes vocals, band, worship leader, drama, and audio-visual production. Bible study, prayer, discipleship, and worship are key elements of this course. Students learn the importance of unity, teamwork, and service while leading their classmates in worship at the weekly chapel gatherings.

Worth Waiting For

"Saving Sex For Real Commitment"

While many teenagers may be confused by today's media message of what a healthy relationship looks like, Worth Waiting For goes against the acceptable social norm and presents the message of saving sex for marriage. Experience has shown that the impact of this group lasts a lifetime and saves students from hurtful broken relationships, helps heal their pasts, and prepares them for the future. We invite you to learn more about Worth Waiting For's Life-changing message and how this exciting peer program dramatically impacts today's youth.

Purpose: Worth Waiting For is a peer drama team that has been educating, entertaining, and encouraging middle and senior high school students through the joint efforts of the Miami Valley Women's Center and the Dayton Christian School System since 1991.

Performances: Each Worth Waiting For performance is about 40 minutes in length and is appropriate for students in grades 6-12. Worth Waiting For's uniquely effective peer abstinence message is presented to between 8, 000 and 10, 000 area teens every year.
