Parents, Alumni React on DCSS Facebook Page
The following comments were left on our Facebook page following an article we posted on one of the benefits of Christian education:
"this is why i am sending my daughter to DCS! when she was going through a rough time, the teachers cared & they prayed for her & with her & (heaven forbid) gave her hugs! it's a very nurturing environment & she is now a fisher of men & tells everyone she meets of God's greatness! you don't get that in a secular school system..."
"My junior year (we'll leave the date out of it!), Mr. P called me to his office. I'm thinking, "Oh great, what did I do now?" I get there and he tells me that he "heard" that I was down and having a bad day. I was, I forget what about now, but he pulled me OUT OF CLASS to pray with me and talk to me!!! THAT is what Christian Schools are all about!! They care for the WHOLE student. That is why my kids are going to Dayton Christian next year, even though we live in West Chester."
"I loved my years at DCSS. My parent's sent me there 6-12 grades and when I arrived I finally felt like I belonged. I too had Mr. P and went to him and told him I didn't "feel" like I was really saved...he told me there there was nothing that said I couldn't pray again...and so I did, right there in his office. I will have graduated from DCS 30 years ago this May...both my boys attend there now. I too am thankful for my parent's who sent me there all those years ago."
"For me it was better. I remember being influenced by my public school friends in bad ways. My children will be starting school in a few years and I am mourning the lack of quality Christian education where I live. I value the education I received at DCSS."
"RCS (Ridgeville Christian) & DCS was one of the best gifts my parents gave me and it's a gift I'm giving my kids."
"Our kids have always been in a Christian school but because of our current circumstances they are now at public school. I miss that God is no longer included in their curriculum and I miss that they are no longer surrounded by Chrisitian teachers and Chrisitian friends. I firmly believe Chrisitian education helps develop and motivate our children's relationship with God which in turn better prepares them to stand against the pressures of this world now and later. By helping our children develop a closer relationship with God, we are helping them to have a brighter future. "
"It's not just great for the kids, it blesses the families as well! I am thankful and blessed by DCSS!"
"God has greatly blessed our family through the great education and lives built through DCSS."
"As a product of Dayton Christian AND a former staff member, I can attest to the wonderful value in Christian education. Now as parents, we are weighing the options of education for our own children. Though my husband is a public school teacher, we BOTH agree that homeschooling may be the best route for us (mostly because of this specific child and the fact that I'm a certified teacher.) Either way, we wholeheartedly agree that we have one chance in this earthly life to prepare our children for the life of ministry God has planned for them. We choose not to give that precious responsibility to educators who neither love nor care for the things of God! While not every parent may have the ability or chance to do what we would like to do, we are so thankful for Christian teachers who are supporting parents in their desire for a Christ-centered education. I know that my teachers and fellow faculty at DC were some of the best friends and mentors I've ever made. Only the Lord knows how they've enriched the landscape of my life!"
"I was a Christian child in the Dayton Public School System through 7th grade. It was a nightmare. I was beaten, stoned, pushed in front of traffic, humiliated and taunted and that was back in the 60's and 70's. I started 8th grade at DCS in 1972 and thought I had died and gone to heaven. There is no comparison between being taught of the LORD by those who love Him and being taught the world's way. My children have all been blessed to attend DCS. Some of them are searching what they may have missed in the world, but when I stand before my Creator on judgement day and have to give account for how I raised them......my heart is in prefect peace that I trained them according to Scripture and gave them the best possible education on the planet! Thank you LORD for DCSS!"
