Foundational Convictions
"God's ways and thoughts are totally different from man's ways and thoughts" (Is. 55:8-9).
This principle dictates that all of life, including everything we do, must be based upon God and His Word. "Everything in heaven and earth is His...He is exalted as head over all...Everything comes from Him..." (I. Chron. 29:10-14). "For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things..." (Rom. 11:36); thus "He Christ must in all things have the preeminence" (Col. 1:18). We must focus on the person of our Lord Jesus Christ with the Bible as the foundation and guidebook for all of life. (II Pet. 1:3)
Everything we do must be such that it can be used to mold us into the likeness of Christ (Jer. 9:23-24; Rom. 8:29; Phil. 3:8). Humanism (man's ways and thoughts) is counter to wisdom (God's ways and thoughts) and thus is to be avoided (Isa. 55:8-9; Ps. 1; Rom. 16:19; Prov. 19:27; Prov. 4:23; II Tim. 2:16-18).
The ultimate goal of education is to produce many godly generations (Ps. 78-6; 112:2, Isa. 58:12) who will make disciples of all nations (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 1:8). Thus young people need to receive stimulation and training in missions education in order to: (1) gain a biblical worldview, (2) gain a biblical view of the world, and (3) consider God's purpose for their lives (what, where, when how).
Therefore, based on these driving principles, Dayton Christian School System is committed to the following:
1. A Christ-centered education is a Scriptural mandate for the Christian family.
- God charges parents and grandparents to train their sons and daughters. (Deut. 6:7; Prov. 17:6; Titus 1:6; II Tim. 1:5; Ps. 78-4-7; Col. 2:2-8)
- Parents are to teach their children to love the Lord with all their hearts, soul, strength, and mind every moment of every day. (Deut. 6:5-9; Matt. 22:37-40)
- God has established DCSS to assist families and their churches in the education of their children.
2. The body of Christ is responsible to ensure that all Christian families have access to a Christ-centered education. (Gal. 6:10; Rom. 15:1, I Jn. 3:17-18; Jm. 1:27, Phile. 4:19; Prov. 19:17-21). Therefore a child from a responsible Christian home will not be denied a quality, Christ-centered education due to lack of financial resources, facilities, or programs.
3. DCS will provide a quality, Christ-centered education so that each student can reach his/her full potential spiritually, academically, physically, and socially. (Luke 2:52; Col. 3:17, 23; Prov. 9:10; 22:6; Rom. 12:2)
4. Those whom God has called to minister at DCSS will be recompensed appropriately so that their focus will be on their calling, family, and personal growth. (I Cor. 9:4-23; I Tim. 5:17,18)
5. The area of securing gifts and donations to DCSS will follow the pattern established with Moses in Ex. 35 and 36:
- petition God in prayer,
- clearly present the needs to God's people, and
- trust the Holy Spirit to stir the hearts of His people to give.
6. DCSS will maintain solvency by being current on all financial obligations. (Rom. 13:8)
7. Legacy Ministries International (LMI) will demonstrate unity and Kingdom focus by strengthening the body of Christ through its own ministries and by partnering with other like-minded ministries in fulfilling the Great Commission (Phil. 2:1-11, John 13:1-7, Mark 10:45, John 13:34-35, John 17: 21).
Convictions are deeply held beliefs that God has revealed through His Word to DCSS which drive our vision, mission, and values.
